Robert E. Lumsden - 100, of Fort Dodge, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. James Chesnutt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Surviving are his sons, Wilbur Lumsden and Companion, Wyota Tennis of Oskaloosa and Loren Lumsden (Mary Ann) of Fort Dodge; daughter Phyllis Sebring (Albert) of Other; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; half-sister Bessie Stark of Independence, Missouri. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Murtis; his second wife Nellie; a son, Robert Alfred; 1 brother; 2 sisters; and a half-brother.
Robert Ernest Lumsden was born on a farm near Coalville, Webster County, Iowa to Robert & Faith Stine-Lumsden. He attended the Holiday Creek Country School. He was united in marriage to Murtis Jane Spike Sept. 15, 1926 and she preceded him in death in 1986. On September 16, 1989 he married Nellie Bloom at Epworth United Methodist Church and she preceded him in death in 1997. Robert farmed and did various jobs in the area until 1949 when he began working for Georgia Pacific. He retired from Georgia Pacific in 1972.
He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and the Pacific Retirees.
