Obituary

Dorothy Rae White, 67, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at her home.

Dorothy's wishes were to be cremated. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 24 in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving are her children; Mary Bennett, Robert Bennett and his wife Marcy, Vickie (White) McClellan; grandchildren, LeeAnna McClellan, Joshua DeWayne Bennett, and Nathan Robert Bennett; sister, Judy King. She was preceded in death by her parents, DeWayne and Mary (Taylor) Burke and her husband Ed.

Dorothy R. Burke was born December 1, 1940 in Iowa City. She attended schools in Des Moines and graduated from North High School. She later attended beauty school. In 1960, she moved to Fort Dodge. She was united in marriage to Edward L. White in 1972 and they established their home in Fort Dodge. Dorothy was employed at Fort Dodge Animal Health for 33 1/2 years until her retirement in 1998.

She was a member of the Fort Dodge Eagles and enjoyed her art work and playing Bingo. She also was a volunteer with the Foster Grandparent Program at Headstart of Fort Dodge.
