Obituary

Funeral Services for Marilyn K. Newman 71, of Fort Dodge will be Thursday, July 28 at 1:30 at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge with Pastor Jim Laupp officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 5pm to 7pm and continue on Thursday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge. She died Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.

Marilyn Kay Newman was born December 17, 1944 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Franklin and Isabelle (Whaley) Purkapile. She attended Fort Dodge Public Schools. She was united in marriage to Wayne Newman on September 18, 1962 in Fort Dodge. The couple settled in Fort Dodge. Marilyn worked several different jobs during her working career including at Fort Dodge Foods, Starlite Hotel, and several area restaurants. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzle books, embroidery and playing organ. Marilyn loved animals; especially dogs, cats, birds, and the animals on the farm.

She is survived by her children: Wayde Purkapile, and Molly (Steve) Pannkuk both of Webster City and Dwayne Newman and Curtis Newman both of Fort Dodge; six grandchildren: Troy, Vanessa, Jonathan, Adrian, Ann and Dustin; and one great grandson: Xander.
