Kem Joseph Rasch, 55, of Fort Dodge, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 29, 2010 and was welcomed to heaven by his wife of 30 years, Marcell Rasch to spend eternity. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Friday November 12 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service held at 7:00 p.m. at the Opera House in Fort Dodge. Arrangements are being handled by Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Kenneth and Jane (Devlin) Rasch welcomed their son Kem into this world on May 27, 1955. Kem grew up with his 11 siblings on a farm outside of Fort Dodge and attended Northwest Webster School in Barnum. After high school he attended Masonry School in Des Moines. Kem then ventured to California for 2 years before returning to Iowa to resume his 40 year career at Rasch Construction. He married Marcell Pommer on October 16, 1980 and settled in Fort Dodge where they raised three children, Logan, Launa and Luke. Kem loved spending time with his family, traveling to warm destinations, flying anything that would fly, operating heavy equipment and body building. He was a thrill seeker and an adventurous man who loved flying his helicopter, skydiving, hang gliding, riding his unicycle and working on all of his "toys". Kem's deep faith and love of God was visible in all of the relationships he shared, and will be remembered by all for his great sense of humor and his gift to find comedy in any situation.

Kem is survived by his children Logan Rasch, Launa (Dave) Misleh, and Luke Rasch as well as his dog Elmo, who was always at his side; his parents Kenny and Jane Rasch; siblings Kevin (Shelley) Rasch, Molly (Pat) Van Arnam, Amy (Steve) Dencklau, Sara (Tom) LaBruzzo, Martha (Ron) Steinkamp, Joel (Cyndi) Rasch, Teresa (Larry) Brown, Melissa (Daniel) Maddux, Justin (Cherissa) Rasch, Ann (Michael) Crouse and Greg (Theresa) Rasch; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Kenneth and Donna Pommer; brothers-in-law Kendell Pommer and Kent Pommer; sisters-in-law Melanie (Steve) Fortney and Kendra (Brant) Crapser. Kem was preceded in death by his wife, Marcell Rasch, who passed away on August 21, 2010.
